The Orthodontists Dr. Ovais Malik BDS, MSc, MFDS RCS(Ed), MOrth RCS (Eng), MOrth RCS (Ed), FDS (Orth) RCS (Eng) Consultant & Specialist Orthodontist Ovais Malik is a Consultant in Orthodontics at Hope Hospital, Manchester and University of Manchester Dental Hospital. He qualified with honours as a dentist in 1996. After a variety of practice and hospital posts he joined the Orthodontic Postgraduate Training Programme at Guy’s Hospital, London. He was awarded a Master of Science Degree in Orthodontics, from University of London and awarded Membership in Orthodontics of both the Royal College of Surgeons of England and Edinburgh. This was followed by entry onto the Specialist list in Orthodontics of the General Dental Council in 2003. Ovais was then appointed as a Senior Registrar in Orthodontics at University of Manchester Dental Hospital and Hope Hospital, Manchester. During this time he gained the Intercollegiate Speciality Fellowship in Orthodontics of the Royal College and accreditation as a Consultant Orthodontist. He is also Secretary for the Lancashire Orthodontic Study Group. Dr David Waring BChD, M.D.Sc, MFDS RCS (Eng), MOrth RCS (Ed), FDS (Orth) RCS(Ed) Consultant & Specialist Orthodontist David qualified in 1995 from Leeds University Dental School. After various practice and hospital posts he joined the orthodontic specialist registrar training programme in Liverpool. He completed his specialist training in Orthodontics in 2003 gaining the Membership in Orthodontics from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and the M.Dent.Sci from the University of Liverpool. Following entry to the Orthodontic specialist list David undertook a further 2 years of training as a senior registrar to gain the Intercollegiate Speciality Fellowship in Orthodontics of the Royal College and achieve consultant status. David currently teaches orthodontics at the University Dental Hospital of Manchester. Dr Susi Caldwell BChD, M.D.Sc, MFDS RCS (Eng), MOrth RCS (Ed), FDS (Orth) RCS(Ed) Consultant & Specialist Orthodontist Susi has been a consultant in Orthodontics at Wythenshawe Hospital for the past 10 years. She originally qualified as a dentist at Manchester University then as an Orthodontic specialist at Leeds Dental Institute in 1995. Following this she came back to Manchester as a Senior Registrar in Orthodontics at the Dental Hospital. She gained the Intercollegiate Speciality Fellowship in Orthodontics of the Royal College of Surgeons in 1998 to gain Consultancy status. She is currently Training Programme Director for Orthodontic trainees in Manchester and at the Council of the Manchester Medical Society, Odontology Section. Susi is very experienced in all areas of Orthodontics including treatment on children and adults.
Dr Mariyah Nazir BDS (Hons), MPhil, MFDS RCS (Eng), MOrth RCS (Ed), FDS (Orth) RCS (Eng) Consultant & Specialist Orthodontist Mariyah qualified with honours as a dentist in 2001 from the University Dental Hospital of Manchester. Following a variety of practice and hospital posts she undertook her specialist training in Manchester, gaining the Membership in Orthodontics from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and the MPhil from the University of Manchester. Mariyah gained the Intercollegiate Speciality Fellowship in Orthodontics of the Royal College of Surgeons in 2009 to gain Consultancy status. Mariyah is an honorary University Dental Hospital of Manchester where she also works as a Consultant.
The Consultants. All the Consultants have undergone extensive training to specialist level in Orthodontics and hold part time Consultant posts in the hospital. They have all lectured widely on Orthodontic subjects and published in national and international journals During all the Orthodontists training and hospital positions, they have been exposed to the full range of orthodontic techniques on a complete spectrum of patients requiring orthodontic treatment. This experience was widened to include the use of lingual appliances, invisalign and friction free brackets, through operating in practice and attending appropriate courses. They have had extensive private practice experience in the UK treating adults and children. |
