What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is a clear aligner orthodontic system made from state of the art SmartTrack material.  SmartTrack material is designed for comfort and versatility, allowing you to place and remove them with ease. You can continue to enjoy the foods you love the most as you simply remove them for eating, brush your teeth once you are finished and place back over your teeth.  Aligners are usually changed every 1-2 weeks depending upon your treatment plan, treatment duration varies depending upon the complexity of treatment but this can be advised at the clin check simulation appointment.

What are the benefits of Invisalign?

The main benefits of Invisalign come from its discretion.  With its semi invisible nature, many will be unaware that you are actually wearing an orthodontic appliance and from a social distance almost invisible. You can remove the appliance for cleaning and eating, this reduces the risk of demineralisation of enamel during orthodontic treatment as you are able to clean your teeth thoroughly and place the aligner back.

What is the difference between Invisalign and braces?

Invisalign is a removable clear aligner system as oppose to a fixed brace that is bonded to the tooth surface. Invisalign aims to align your teeth in accordance with the clin check that is generated prior to treatment. The system works by progressing through a series of aligners that gradually move the teeth into alignment.

How do Invisalign braces work?

Invisalign braces follow a prescription from your orthodontic specialist, a treatment plan is generated by Invisalign as to how the desired outcome is achieved.  This can be demonstrated to the patient prior to treatment using Clin Check software. The Clin Check software highlights if and when attachments, interproximal reduction (IPR) and buttons maybe required to achieve the desired result. From acceptance of the clin check the patient will then be asked to wear a series of aligners over a period of time.

Which takes longer braces or Invisalign?

The duration of your treatment completely depends on your individual treatment plan. Treatment can vary in length from around 9 months up until around 24 months. We would advise you to consult your orthodontic specialist for further advice.
