Invisalign Braces

There are many different types of bites that braces can fix quite easily. Invisalign is an effective tooth straightening option, but can it actually correct your bite? Continue reading this blog to find out!

Why choose Invisalign?

Invisalign is an effective appliance that is completely clear, and what’s better is that it’s also removable. While they should be kept in all day long, these braces have to be taken out when you want to eat, drink and brush your teeth. This is a great advantage to anyone who may want to perfect teeth without people seeing a bulky appliance when they talk.

Invisalign is made to fit your teeth and works to correct teeth overcrowding, spacing and various other malocclusions. As well as teeth straightening, braces are also used to fix bites, such as overbites and underbites. I’m sure you only came to this blog because you wanted to find out whether Invisalign can or can’t fix your overbite.

What is an overbite?

An overbite is a malocclusion that causes your top teeth to cover your bottom teeth when biting down. Usually, both rows of teeth should meet in the middle with a slight overlap not edge to edge. An overbite is commonly hereditary so isn’t a sign of any more serious problems. Sometimes though, an overbite may happen if the jaw doesn’t develop properly.

Can Invisalign fix my Overbite?

As long as the bite isn’t too severe, Invisalign should be able to fix the malocclusion. How? Well, the aligners should be working to move your teeth into place. Your orthodontist may decide to add elastics to the top and bottom aligners so that the jaw will move into the correct place. If you have a deeper overbite, there are other methods available such as different braces or jaw surgery.

At Northenden House Orthodontics we offer Invisalign, along with a range of braces that can fix your overbite. Why not give us a call to book a consultation?
